It occurred to me that maybe other artist's who were presenting their work on line may benefit from these scripts. I am reasonably sure they will only work in Photoshop. One of the best is the one that gives a true white to the canvas that surrounds the artwork on a photographed image. I really had lots of issues when photographing artworks. I'm sure there must be books on the subject. All my white borders looked either cream or a dirty off white. If the borders looked okay, then the artwork was too bright. Scripting was useful in the end, and the first example here shows it in action

Here are a selection of useful scripts. Mostly Photoshop based. If you feel they will help you in your art then please feel free to download them. There are separate downloads for the guides, and for the files themselves. Create a folder on your drive, place them in there and go File / Scripts / Browse. none of them should harm your original image (Make backups just in case!)

White background restore

What it does: cleans up photographed or scanned artwork that should have a
white background but has come out grey, cream, or with a colour cast. It sets a
proper white point per channel, so the cast is removed rather than just
brightened away.

The full sequence: per-channel Levels white point → a gentle highlight curve to
clear muddy tones → +10 saturation to put back the vibrancy that neutralising a
cast tends to drain → a final snap so near-whites become true white.

Severe blur

What it does: I use this myself in my process. It's quite configurable:heavy, controllable blur with a proper dialog — for
backgrounds, texture plates, abstract ground layers, or anything where
Photoshop's ordinary sliders don't go far enough.

Image tile splitter

What it does: I used this myself on the Gallery page. What would have taken me ages was done in a second. It cuts the open image into a grid and saves every tile as its own file, in the same folder and the same format as the original.

Crop to white

What it does: Okay this one is a little harder to explain. Suppose you are selling a print and the framing company only offer one size that is a 2/3 ratio ie 400mm x 600mm. Your artwork is not quite that size and needs cropping a little. This script lets you specify crop ratio and overlays your image with a semi transparent layer that you can crop to. I'll use this one a lot!!

Suggest print size

What it does: A read only script: Cuts a lot of headache out of deciding which of the sizes your framing service offer (or Print on demand) that actually work well with your image. Looks at the aspect ratio of the document you have open and lists standard print sizes, sorted by how well they fit. For each size it shows the ratio and the crop — the percentage of your image you'd lose to match that size exactly. The closest matches are marked << BEST. Sizes are automatically flipped to match your document's orientation, so a portrait image is compared against portrait sizes.

Fit artwork to frame

What it does: Useful for those using mock-up templates to attempt to display art in a natural setting. Takes an artwork layer and scales and positions it so it fills the aperture of a framed-mockup PSD exactly. It reads the aperture size live from the mockup's own layers, so the same script works across portrait, landscape, 2:3, 3:4, 4:5 versions of a mockup family without editing anything.
